Jürgen Klopp has received some criticism from Jeff Stelling on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday amid a poor run of form for Liverpool.
The 67-year-old was sat alongside Paul Merson, Clinton Morrison, Kris Boyd and Michael Dawson when the Liverpool manager’s frequent media appearances became a topic of conversation.
Interestingly, Stelling was critical of Klopp for engaging in so many interviews amid a dreadful run of form for Liverpool.
Jeff Stelling criticises Jürgen Klopp
Well, the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host feels Liverpool fans should be “seeing a little less” of the German on their screens.
Stelling said: “Boy do I have to say, Jürgen Klopp is very generous with his time for the media. They’re down in ninth place, they’ve lost against Leeds, should he be spending so much time with the media?
“I just wonder if Liverpool fans feel that they should be seeing a little less of him.”
Unsurprisingly, Merson and the rest of the panel immediately shot down this suggestion, labelling it as nonsense.
Klopp speaking to the media has nothing to do with Liverpool’s poor run of form whatsoever.
The 55-year-old is not exactly skipping training or neglecting his players in order to undergo these media duties, and it is wholly unfair of Stelling to suggest that the Reds boss is letting his focus slip.
Yes, Liverpool are ninth in the Premier League, and have suffered back-to-back defeats against two of the worst performers in the entire division this season in Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

However, that has absolutely no relevance to Klopp and his media duties.
Jürgen Klopp will turn Liverpool around
The German is not stupid, and he certainly wouldn’t have signed a new contract until 2026 if he wasn’t confident he could keep Liverpool competitive at the highest level.
Klopp and everybody at Anfield know the squad needs some freshening up, so as long as he receives the backing of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), he should be able to sort the situation out.
