Tim Sherwood has claimed that he ‘just loves Leeds’ following their 3-3 draw at Aston Villa on Wednesday night, as he told Premier League Productions (10/02/22 at 12:40 pm).
The former Blackburn midfielder added that he thinks Leeds are going to ‘do enough’ to stay in England’s top-flight this season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are six points above the drop zone, but with those below them starting to pick up points, then there will be a small peak over their shoulder.
Even though the Whites can go from the sublime to the absolute ridiculous in next to no time, they will still be confident enough that they won’t go down.
That’s certainly the viewpoint of Sherwood, who is a huge admirer of Leeds and the manner in which they play, especially at Villa Park last night.
“Certainly, in the first half for Aston Villa, they did get lured into it (basketball-like game),” said Sherwood. “It was up and down.
“If you are going to have a war on endurance, then you can’t win the game against Leeds. They are fitter than anyone. They will keep coming at you. And they did (against Villa).
“I just love Leeds. For the neutral, we just love talking about them.
“I think they are going to do enough to stay in the Premier League. They have some huge games coming up.”
Even though Bielsa had Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford missing yesterday, they still produced a high-quality display against a Villa team in high spirits under their new boss.
If any other team had the number of injuries suffered by the Yorkshire club, then they would probably be in deeper trouble.
But not this all-action and relentless Leeds side, who could field an XI of teenagers and neutrals still wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
That’s all down to the genius of Bielsa, his highly-demanding ways and the work he does out on the training ground.
