Alfredo Morelos has absolutely cleaned up his act for Rangers this season, but drama is never far away from the South American and that was the case last night.
The Gers maintained their 23-point lead over Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race with a 1-0 victory away to Hibernian.
And it was Morelos who scored the game’s decisive goal in the second half.
But in the first half, television replays indicate that the Rangers hitman stamped on Ryan Porteous in an incident which could – and definitely should – have earned him a straight red card.
The 24-year-old, who cost the Ibrox side £1 million in 2017, also got away with a similar offence away to Dundee United earlier in the campaign.
And former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has said on Sky Sports that he just doesn’t understand what’s going through the player’s head at times.
He told Sky Sports: “Its a red card. There is no getting away from it. I just don’t understand. It was the exact same at Tannadice. He’s got away with one.
“People can tell me he is trying to get out the road of him. But he’s not, you can see it right there. He’s very lucky to still be on this pitch.”
If it was any other Rangers player, you might give him the benefit of the doubt.
But Morelos has quite a long rap sheet when it comes to murky incidents such as this and therefore it’s hard to argue that it was accidental.
