Richard Keys told beIN SPORTS 11 (17/01/21 at 5:25 pm) that Jurgen Klopp was ‘annoyed’ after Paul Tierney blew early for the half-time whistle as Liverpool recorded a goalless draw against Manchester United on Sunday.

The outspoken TV presenter stated that he simply didn’t understand the on-field decision because Liverpool could have been through on goal.

One minute of added time was put up, and with seconds still remaining on the clock, the on-field referee blew for the interval as the ball was being played over the top to Sadio Mane.

Keys and former Aston Villa striker Andy Gray shared their thoughts on the controversial incident.

“You can see why Klopp is annoyed,” said Keys. “If you look at the incident at half-time again, they hadn’t even played the full minute that the referee had given us. I just don’t understand.

Gray added: “They hadn’t blown it. You are right. Good spot. And it’s a minimum when the board goes up, that’s not maximum, that’s a minimum amount of time, it should have been one minute but it was less than that.”

It was a mistake from the referee to blow early, whether or not something was or wasn’t going to happen.

But what will probably happen is the decision by Tierney will be defended by ex-Premier League ref Dermot Gallagher on Sky Sports.

Nonetheless, both teams shared the spoils in yet another dull and boring Liverpool-Manchester United showdown.
