There’s no questioning who the hottest free agent in football is right now – it’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Indeed the Portuguese mega-star has been released by Manchester United and he’s on the hunt for a new club.
Unfortunately for CR7, there aren’t many suitors out there at the moment, but one team that keeps being mentioned is Arsenal.
Piers Morgan has been pushing for the move after his bombshell interview with Ronaldo, some tedious reports in Europe have linked Ronaldo to the Gunners, while Gabriel Jesus’ injury would only add fuel to the fire.
There’s a tiny possibility that this move could be on the cards, but when speaking to SportsLens, Ray Parlour admitted that he doesn’t want to see the striker at the Emirates.

Parlour doesn’t want Ronaldo
The pundit gave his verdict on these rumours.
“I wasn’t in favour of bringing Ronaldo in, certainly not before Jesus got injured because he won’t want to be sitting on the bench again. I just don’t think he’ll work hard enough. I know he scores the goals but Ronaldo won’t bring the energy of Jesus by any means,” Parlour said.
“He still is a very good player but will he fit into Arsenal’s system the way they play now? I don’t see it. I’d be amazed if it happens but if it did then you’d have to just get behind it as an Arsenal fan and back the team.”
Not what Arsenal need
It feels strange to write this sentence, but Arsenal are way beyond the point where a player like Cristiano Ronaldo would help them.
Yes, he’s a talented footballer and yes, he’d score plenty of goals, but this Arsenal side is about more than that.
Mikel Arteta has built a young, hungry, harmonious squad, and the last thing he needs is a 37-year-old past-his-best prima donna coming and effecting the dressing room.
Ronaldo’s conduct in recent months both on and off the pitch has been nothing short of unacceptable, and if there’s one team that doesn’t need that type of distraction, it’s Arsenal.
