Well, Arsenal officially won’t be winning another FA Cup under Mikel Arteta.

The Spanish manager led Arsenal to success in this competition during his first half-a-season in football management.

However, the in-form Gunners slumped to a shock defeat at Nottingham Forest this evening.

Prior to visiting the Championship outfit, Arteta’s side had won five of their last six outings across all competitions, losing only to Manchester City – and even that was an unfortunate result.

Arsenal’s form made them major favourites to see off Forest but, honestly, the hosts were very good value for their victory and fully deserve their upcoming fourth-round affair with Leicester City.

The North Londoners were relatively woeful this evening but Arteta may feel aggrieved over a first-half incident.

Television replays indicate that Joe Worrall was impeding defender Ben White by grabbing his shirt during an Arsenal corner.

And even Roy Keane, when reviewing the footage, admitted that the £50 million centre-back probably should’ve won a penalty for the Emirates Stadium club.

He said to ITV Sport: “Oh, I just can’t believe what defenders are doing. Okay there’s no VAR but the referee or the official should see it. He’s taking such a risk.”

Penalty?

In the Premier League, probably.

It would’ve gone to VAR and that’d have been that, but Worrall knowing there was no retrospective action available at the City Ground was probably half his motive.

Forest were just that bit more wily and hungry than Arsenal on the day and even leaving that penalty decision to one side, the visitors did nowhere near enough to score.
