Celtic are through to the Europa League Group Stages, but they made hard work of their task.
Indeed, the Bhoys looked like they would comfortably coast through after a 2-0 first-leg win, and it looked to be a closed case after Kyogo Furuhashi netted early on in the second leg.
However, a bit of bad goalkeeping and a piece of dodgy defending saw Celtic go 2-1 down after 25 minutes, and all of a sudden the pressure was on.
Luckily, Ange Postecoglou’s side managed to hold on, but truth be told it wasn’t the most convincing display.
But, at the end of the day, the result is all that matters, and after the game Chris Sutton gave his view on the match and the Glasgow outfit’s current situation.
Sutton is absolutely right.
This is the type of situation that Celtic would have thrown away under Neil Lennon last season, but under Postecoglou there was more grit and seemingly more calmness.
However, if the Bhoys are to kick on to the next level, there are a couple of signings that need making, notably a new striker, and in order to get these bodies in, the board need to back the manager.
Let’s wait and see what the final days of the transfer window bring at Celtic Park.
