Jamie Carragher has stated that he doesn’t like the rumour that Emiliano Martinez is being rested for Aston Villa’s clash against Manchester City today, as the Liverpool legend told his Instagram Live.
Rumours have been surfacing that Martinez is being rested by Villa because he will be on international duty with Argentina next week.
This could have huge bearings for Liverpool because they want to win the Premier League title – and they need a helping hand from Villa.
If Steven Gerrard’s side can get a result at Manchester City, then all Liverpool will need is a win against Wolves and they are champions.
But, it seems as though one of Villa’s best players is being rested for their final game showdown.
“Martinez has asked to be dropped,” Carragher read from the comments of his Instagram Live. “The goalkeeper for Aston Villa? Oh, I hope not.
“The Villa keeper being rested? Oh, I am not liking this. I like the Villa keeper, he’s really good.”

If Martinez is indeed rested, then Robin Olsen will come into the XI – he joined the club in January.
The 32-year-old is on Roma’s books, but he was on-loan at Sheffield United at the start of the campaign, where he struggled to make a name for himself.
All in all, it’s a little boost for those at Manchester City because they don’t have one of the top and proven keepers in their way of success.
But, it all just adds to the drama of today, as Liverpool and Man City battle it out for the title.
