Jamie Carragher has stated that he is hoping Antonio Conte becomes Tottenham’s next manager, as he told Sky Sports News (01/11/21 at 5:05 pm).

Tottenham sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning, after their defeat to Manchester United on Saturday and the hostile atmosphere inside the stadium during that game.

The Spurs fans, not only turned on their manager, but some of the players, like Harry Kane and the man running the ship in Daniel Levy, who was in the stands.

Therefore, it was no surprise that Nuno was given the boot and it now seems Conte could be the man to replace him in North London.

There are suggestions that he is flying to London today (Monday) (Sky Sports) and possibly bring his highly-demanding style of play to the out-of-sorts Premier League club.

Carragher shared why he is loving the rumours of Conte possibly returning to the Premier League and to Spurs.

“I’ll be looking at that, maybe from a selfish point of view, that I would love Conte back in the Premier League,” said Carragher.

“I think he was a revelation the first time around. He’s a brilliant character and personality. I would love to see him back in the Premier League.

“I hope it does get done.”

In the summer, a lot of names were linked with the Spurs job, including Conte’s, but deals fell through during certain stages.

Therefore, it will be understandable if the Spurs faithful are a little hesitant in celebrating yet because this could take a turn for the worst, at any point.

There was a lot of talk around Nuno’s style of play, or lack of it, during his now unforgettable four-month reign at the club.

And whilst Conte is still a defensive-minded coach like the previous two managers at Spurs – Nuno and Jose Mourinho.

He is more efficient in his ways, like Jose, and the players will, no doubt, be a lot more well-drilled off the ball.

To put it simply, it’s Conte’s way or the high way and if players don’t buy into it, then he won’t open the exit door, but kick them out of it.
