Former Real Madrid ace Christian Karembeu hopes to see Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah follow in his footsteps with a big-money move to the La Liga giants, speaking to Al-Nahar TV, via King Fut.
However, if Los Blancos don’t have the funds to hand Lucas Vazquez a new contract, what chance do they have of signing one of the most gifted attackers in world football?
Salah still has another two years on his contract at Anfield.
And, after hitting his 25th goal of the season in last night’s 2-0 Champions League triumph over RB Leipzig, we can only assume Liverpool would demand a fee similar to the one Real Madrid paid to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea two years ago.
But, with the 13-time European Champions £770 million in debt, according to Diario Sport, Real would struggle to afford Divock Origi these days, let alone his much-lauded teammate.
However, that hasn’t prevented Karembeu from dreaming of a Salah-Karim Benzema partnership taking La Liga by storm under Zinedine Zidane.
“Mohamed Salah’s experience and ability make him able to play for any team, whether Barcelona or Real Madrid,” says Karembeu, who donned the iconic white shirt between 1997 and 2000 and is now sporting director of Olympiacos.

“For me, I hope he moves to Real.”
Salah did little to quell the speculation over his future in December, fluttering his eyelashes in the direction of the two Spanish superclubs.
“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs,” he told AS. “Who knows what will happen in the future?”
But with Real facing an era of cost-cutting, the chances of Salah following in the foosteps of Michael Owen, Xabi Alonso and Steve McManaman appear slim.
