Gary Neville wants ‘massive fines’ handed out to the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as the European Super League stands on the brink of collapse.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said that all six clubs – including Liverpool and Tottenham – should have to pay huge sums of money, after their much criticised act of trying to form a breakaway league.

Tottenham and Liverpool both released statements last night sharing their intentions to back away from the league after fierce backlash from supporters.

And Neville said: “The fact that City have enacted their withdrawal and it looks like Chelsea is on the way, it’s done, it’s finished. They’ll have their PR teams and comms teams scrambling around, trying to make this look as lovely as possible in the next 24 hours – working out the right time to withdraw.

“Perez might have them on a £100 million fine to withdraw. Perez might have them on a massive fine. I hope so. I hope Perez has got them on a massive fine to withdraw, the lot of them.

“I hope they basically end up eating each other.”

If Liverpool and Tottenham are fined it could seriously harm their transfer budgets for the summer, which were already set to be limited.

Liverpool’s players have spoken strongly about the matter and released statements on Twitter encouraging the club to pull out.

Sir Kenny Dalglish also suggested that he wanted FSG to see the errors of their ways, which they seemingly finally have now.

Liverpool’s and Tottenham’s owners are now facing loud calls for them to resign, with pressure building on their positions.
