Andy Halliday has claimed that Rangers are well equipped to deny Celtic a historic 10-in-a-row come next season.

Neil Lennon’s side were crowned Premiership champions for the ninth year in succession last month, with the Hoops 13 points clear of the Ibrox outfit at the time.

Rangers beat Celtic at Parkhead in December to move only two points behind their Old Firm rivals, but a disastrous first two months of 2020, culminating in 13 dropped points, put paid to the Gers’ chances of stopping the Bhoys this past season.

Reaching 10-in-a-row would forever sting those on the blue half of Glasgow, given how close they came to doing it during the 90s.

But Halliday, who was released by Rangers last month, says that with Steven Gerrard steering the ship, his old side can do it.

He said on talkSPORT: “As a supporter now, I hope Celtic don’t win ten-in-a-row.

“What I will say is that I firmly believe Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff are the right people to take the club forward.

“We’ve managed to sign Ianis Hagi and two or three attacking options will see us doing well.”

It’s obvious that Rangers need much more than Ianis Hagi if they’re going to deny Celtic a 10th successive title in 12 months, but signing up the Romanian on a permanent basis is definitely a good start to the summer by Gerrard.
