Jermaine Beckford has shared how Marcelo Bielsa made contractors working on a job at Leeds United’s training ground ‘go all the way around Thorp Arch’ to check every double-plug socket after one of them ‘wasn’t quite perfectly right-angled’, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker added, both Bielsa and his wife, ensured ‘everything flew beautifully’ in and around the Thorp Arch training complex.
On Sunday, Leeds sacked Bielsa from his managerial post after a barren run of results and performances.
It ended a near four-year reign for Bielsa in Yorkshire and one that will see him go down as one of the club’s greatest ever managers.
The reason why Bielsa was so popular, wasn’t just because of what he did out on the pitch for the team, but also what he did behind-the-scenes, as Beckford shared this amazing story.
“I heard a story about Marcelo Bielsa, in the training ground,” said Beckford. “Him and his wife made everything flow as beautifully as they could.
“There was a story that one of the double-plug sockets wasn’t quite perfectly right-angled, so he made the contractors go all the way around the whole Thorp Arch training ground to change and check every single one of them.”

It’s a new dawn for Leeds now and they will be hoping it doesn’t go wrong straightaway.
Jesse Marsch is the man who has replaced Bielsa in the Elland Road dugout and he has one very tough task on his hands.
In terms of style of play, Marsch prefers high-intensity, aggressive and on-the-front-foot football, so the Leeds players can get used to him pretty quickly because of that.
But, it’s the defence which is the biggest worry – most goals conceded in the Premier League this season – and if that leakage doesn’t stop, then Leeds will drop down to the Championship again.
