Garth Crooks told BBC One’s Final Score that he didn’t see Patrick Bamford during Leeds’ 2-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
After Leeds picked up positive results and performances against the big boys during the past few weeks, including a win against the soon-to-be champions, they came crashing back down to earth yesterday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side lacked that energy and bite they would usually have in their game, with Bamford being subbed off after 60 minutes by his manager.
Crooks shared how Lewis Dunk was the man behind Leeds’ problems, as he provided a brutal assessment of Bamford’s time on the pitch.
“When Brighton went 1-0 up, Leeds upped their game,” said Crooks. “And at one stage, they had Brighton on the rack.
“But they have been poor in the last third. Bamford, I haven’t seen him. We haven’t seen him. – when they (Leeds) have put the ball into the box. Who has been there? Lewis Dunk.
“He has just moped things up and Leeds have played into Brighton’s hands.”
It’s a case of go again for Leeds because it’s what they are best at doing and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they walloped their next opponents.
Whether Leeds are in a good run of form, bad run of form, missing players through injuries, players out of position, their all-action style never stops.
But they can be forgiven for putting their foot on the break against Brighton, who had a lot to fight for in terms of relegation.
Leeds’ next stop is a home clash against faltering Tottenham, who recently sacked Jose Mourinho and have a 29-year-old manager in their dugout.
