Speaking on ESPN, Shaka Hislop has been discussing Alexander Isak and the impact he’s had at Newcastle so far.

Isak has only played two league games for the Magpies after arriving in a club-record deal from Real Sociedad, but Hislop has been impressed by what he’s seen thus far.

Indeed, The former goalkeeper claims that he’s been pleasantly surprised by how the striker has gotten on so far, and he’s been so convinced by his performances that he thinks he can score 15 goals in the league this season.

What’s been said?

Hislop was full of praise for Isak.

“I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised by his start, by the way he took his goal. I know he had one disallowed as well. Between now and the end of the season if Isak gets 15 that’s a very good return. I think he can get 15,” Hislop said.

Great debut

Isak had a fantastic debut against Liverpool, scoring once and having another controversially disallowed.

However, we must bear in mind that this Liverpool team aren’t the force they once were.

The Reds have been out of sorts all season long, and while a goal against Liverpool looks incredible on paper, in context it’s not as impressive as it would usually seem.

That isn’t a knock on Isak as much as it is an observation on the season, but Isak does have a lot more to do before we can start predicting that he’ll score double figures in the Premier League. After all, he couldn’t even hit 10 in La Liga last season, never mind 15.
