Ian Wright has stated that Newcastle United are in a Premier League title race at this moment in time following their 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday, as he told PL Productions (14/11/22 at 2:40 pm).
Eddie Howe’s side aren’t just putting up the performances, but they are also winning the so-called bigger games and their weekend win against Graham Potter’s Chelsea was a signal of intent, once again.
A certain Leicester City comes to mind when it comes to shock Premier League title triumphs. Their 2015/16 shock win will live long in the memory of many in decades to come.

And those at St James’ Park will be hoping, after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, some of that Leicester City magic can be sprinkled on their team.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright is enjoying his team sitting at the top of the Premier League table, but he was sure to give Newcastle their flowers for their own strong start.
“I have to say yes (on Newcastle having to be talked about re PL title race) because they are in it,” said Wright. “They are in the conversation.
“It has got that same vibe of Leicester at a certain stage. You speak about it because you can’t see Newcastle being in a title race, because we look at Man City and Liverpool or a Newcastle and Leicester in and around it, then you say ‘well, that’s going to fall off at some stage’.
“Eddie Howe will not be thinking anything to do with the title race because they will be happy to get themselves in a position where they are in and around it.
“Don’t think for one instance, if they are in it (during the second half of the season), then they aren’t going to go for it. Of course, you are. But, at the moment, they are very happy that everybody is keeping a lid on what they are doing. Look at the points.”

WORLD CUP BREAK ARRIVES AT THE WRONG TIME
The Magpies are sitting third in the Premier League table, two points behind second-placed Manchester City, who have played a game less and were beaten by Brentford at the weekend.
Newcastle are a further seven points behind Arsenal, who once again have played a game less and they have dropped points from only two games this term.
If Newcastle fans thought their one defeat from 15 league games was impressive, then Mikel Arteta is setting a different level over in north London, as the break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar comes at the wrong time for both teams.
