Danny Rose has claimed that his final year at Tottenham was ‘one of the best experiences’ he has had, as he told Ben Foster’s Cycling GK Channel.
The 31-year-old spent his final season at Tottenham training with the under-23’s and not kicking a single football for the senior side.
When Jose Mourinho was sacked towards the back end of last season, Rose did train with the first team for a brief period of time, as his former teammate, Ryan Mason, was in the dugout.
But despite being in such a ‘difficult’ situation, Rose made this surprising claim about the last 12 months of his Spurs career.
“Particularly last year, I had a difficult season to my Tottenham career,” said Rose. “It was very difficult but I tried to make the best out of it.
“I trained with the U23’s. I have to say, it was one of the best experiences that I have had in a very long time.
“When you get older, you don’t realise how much the younger lads look up to you, so last season was brilliant that I could pass on advice on a day-to-day basis.
“It was brilliant, so I just try to make the best out of a bad situation.”

Rose will now don the colours of Watford and trying to help the newly-promoted side maintain their Premier League status.
There is a lot of experience, including top-flight experience, in that Watford dressing room, but not many will be able to match Rose’s credentials.
It’s going to be interesting to see how much more Rose has left in his tank and how his lack of game time in recent years has affected his game.
Whilst the left-back will be glad that he will be playing week in and week out again. Going from zero to 100 miles per hour once again isn’t going to be plain sailing.
