Speaking on Stadium Astro, Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell has been discussing the midfield battle between West Ham and the Gunners, reserving special praise for Declan Rice.
Heading into this match, it would have been fair to say that the game may have been won and lost in the middle of the park, but, unfortunately, despite West Ham’s best efforts in the midfield, they didn’t have enough to get the better of Arsenal.
Indeed, Campbell says that Declan Rice was outstanding against the Gunners, but he also claimed that Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey just did enough to win the midfield battle.
What’s been said about Rice?
Campbell had nothing but good things to say about Rice after this game.
“I have to say, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey in the midfield against Declan Rice and Soucek. I though Declan Rice was outstanding, but Xhaka and Partey just did enough to win it in the trenches,” Campbell said.

What’s new?
Campbell describes Rice as outstanding, and, to be honest, you could use that word to describe him every single week.
The midfielder is establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to hear him receiving this sort of praise once again.
The scary thing is, Rice wasn’t even at his best against Arsenal and he’s receiving this level of praise.
The sky truly is the limit for this young man.
