Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Dion Dublin has been discussing Dele Alli and his performance against Liverpool at the weekend.

Alli returned to the starting XI against the Reds, and it’s fair to say he was impressive against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The midfielder looked transformed against Liverpool. He didn’t necessarily look back to his old self, but he was running hard and creating more than we’ve seen from him in a long time.

Yes, he probably should have scored, but it’s hard to find any true faults in his performance on Sunday.

What’s been said about Alli?

Dublin had nothing but good things to say about the England international after this weekend.

“I thought Dele Alli. I have to say, I thought he was brilliant on the day. I’m not saying he’s back or anything like that, but in that one game I’ve seen, his attitude looked different, he was running, he was working hard. If Conte can get him playing again he might have something there again,” Dublin said.

Start of a revival

Could this be the start of a revival for Dele Alli?

Well, he looked brilliant against Liverpool, but we have been here before don’t forget.

Remember those first few weeks under Jose Mourinho? He was scoring for fun and looked back to his old self before the rot set in and he lost any semblance of form.

Hopefully the same doesn’t happen this time, but it’s hard to make any predictions about a player who has been such an enigma in recent years.
