Bernd Leno has admitted that one of Arsenal’s London rivals are about to sign a class player.

The rumour mill has been churning out a lot of Timo Werner-related content in recent weeks and months.

The Arsenal goalkeeper, who played with the German attacker at Stuttgart, is well aware of what the red-hot Leipzig star can do.

For months it looked like Liverpool were going to be signing him, but it’s actually Chelsea who have activated his £52 million release clause.

And although Leno has admitted that his former colleague will be welcome in the Premier League, the Gunners stopper concedes that the West Londoners are getting a striker with a ‘killer instinct’ in front of goal.

Leno, a £22 million signing in 2018, told Sky Sports Germany: “I get on very well with Timo. He is very welcome in London. I would be happy for him, Chelsea is a great choice, no question about it.

“The Premier League is faster, more physical. But I think he’s good for it. Timo is an extremely fast player. With his qualities and killer instinct, I’m afraid I have to say, he could be reinforcing Chelsea.”

You wonder why Arsenal weren’t in the running for Werner.

The Emirates Stadium club might need a new striker this summer, amid speculation about Pierre-Emerick and Alexandre Lacazette leaving.

And although £52 million is a lot of money, Arsenal are reportedly willing to spend £45 million on Thomas Partey, so the additional £7 million wouldn’t have broken the bank.
