Boyd, Sam Hutchinson and Tom Lees will all miss Sheffield Wednesday’s game against Hull City this weekend.

Carlos Carvalhal has revealed that Tom Lees will miss Sheffield Wednesday’s visit of Hull City on Saturday.
However, the Owls head coach is confident he’ll have Sam Hutchinson and George Boyd back in contention either side of the new year.
Hutchinson and Boyd have only appeared once apiece since August, while Lees sat out last Saturday’s trip to Reading and will see a specialist over a problem with his abductor muscle.
Speaking at his pre-Hull press conference, broadcast via Wednesday’s official Facebook page on Thursday, Carvalhal said: “I have some news, some positive and negative.

“Negative news is that Tom Lees will be out of this game, absolutely sure.
“Positive news that George Boyd will be back, for sure, at the beginning of the year, to start normal with the team.
“And probably this month Sam Hutchinson will be back. His recovery is going really very well, so we have some expectations that during December, at the end of December, he will probably be back to the competition.”
Carvalhal went on to affirm his belief that another Wednesday injury victim, Fernando Forestieri, who has started running ‘every other day’ without pain, will also return before the end of the January transfer window.

Despite his positive expectations, the Portuguese told the Sheffield Star last week that the Owls are looking to strengthen their squad in the new year, but warned that budget restrictions mean they will have to operate in a ‘clever way’.
“Let’s see if we can do something but we don’t have the budget to spend money and the chairman has been very clear (on this),” said Carvalhal.
“But it doesn’t mean that we can’t do anything in a clever way to try and achieve something.
“If we do something, it will be little things.”
