Slaviša Jokanović has shared that he ‘understands’ the transfer situation surrounding the reported Arsenal target, Sander Berge.

It has been suggested that the 23-year-old could leave Bramall Lane this summer, with Arsenal one of the clubs keen on his defensive and no-nonsense talents.

But speaking to Sheffield United’s YouTube channel, Jokanović, who was appointed Blades boss this summer, labelled Berge as a ‘very good player’ and a ‘very expensive player’.

However, with the Blades in the Championship after suffering relegation, he hinted that he does ‘understand’ Berge’s transfer situation and possibly needing to leave.

“I have some information from the club side about Sander Berge,” said Jokanović.

“I can accept this guy is a very good player and a very expensive player. And I want to coach him.

“We will see what will happen – From the other side, I can understand all the movements of the different clubs.

Whilst it was an absolute car-crash of a season for Sheffield United, someone like Berge can be one of a very few players who can hold his head up high.

When Berge signed for Sheffield United for £22 million during the January transfer window of 2020 (BBC Sport), he showcased why those in Yorkshire paid so much for his talents, as he shone during his first few months.

But given that the Blades did get relegated last term, any interested parties surely have to try and get the bustling midfielder for a lot cheaper than the market value suggests.

However, saying that, given Arsenal’s ways of dealing in the transfer market, they’ll probably pay an inflated price for the player.
