Don Hutchison has lauded Liverpool’s transfer move for Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and how he is a ‘proper player’.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract at Anfield, as he joined Alexis Mac Allister through the Liverpool doors this summer and Hutchison thinks he can score ’10-15 goals’ from the middle of the park, as he told ESPN.

At the start of the window, the message was clear that the sought-after Jude Bellingham wasn’t going to sign because of how much the Englishman was going to cost.

Well, as of this moment, the Reds have signed two players for the price of Bellingham, with the England star joining Real Madrid for a fee that could rise to £115 million, as reported by BBC Sport.

Of course, fans would have loved to have seen Bellingham don the Liverpool colours, but things got so bad last season that they had no choice but to go down a different route.

Now the likes of Szoboszlai are tasked with helping the team get back to their best and challenge for the Premier League title next season, with Hutchison sharing an insight into what he can do under Jurgen Klopp.

“He is a player,” said Hutchison. “He is a proper player. I have seen a lot of this kid. Only 22. He can play in any position. I can’t imagine him playing off the left-hand side. Diaz will play there. Salah has got it nailed down on the right.

“He’s not a number nine, but deeper going forward, he scores goals and averages about 15 goals a season, so unlike what Liverpool had been doing when they had Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, where they didn’t really score.

“All of a sudden now, they have got Mac Allister, who might get 10-15 goals. Szoboszlai potentially 10-15 goals. They are adding a lot more goals. He shoots from outside of the box. He has got a terrific technique – talent-wise, he is right up there.”

Will Liverpool add more midfielders?

At a minimum, two new faces needed to be added to the middle of the park and the club have done that.

But will more players join during these next few months because Romeo Lavia’s name has popped up on the transfer rumour mill following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship?

Whilst the 19-year-old would add defensive bite to Liverpool’s midfield, Danny Murphy can’t see it happening, as he suggested that Trent Alexander-Arnold might be used in midfield instead next season.
