Spotify co-founder, Daniel Ek, has claimed that he has ‘secured the funds’ to try and buy Arsenal, as he told CNBC on Wednesday afternoon.

The boyhood Arsenal fan reiterated his love for the club and wanting to buy the Premier League giants from the Kroenke’s.

Arsenal’s American owners released a statement on Tuesday where they made it clear that the club isn’t for sale.

And when Ek was asked about wanting to buy Arsenal, this is what he said, which fans will just love.

“I have been an Arsenal fan since I was eight years old,” said Ek. “I love the history, the players and the fans.

“When I see that then I see a tremendous opportunity to set a real vision for the club to bring it back to its glory. I want to establish trust with fans and I want to engage with fans again.

“To answer your question, I am very serious. I have secured the funds for it and I want to bring what is a very compelling offer to the owners. I hope they hear me out.”

This would be the dream scenario for Arsenal fans because they would have a very wealthy boyhood fan in charge of the club and someone who has a genuine interest in the club, and not just the money coming through.

The Kroenke’s saying that they aren’t willing to sell shouldn’t be seen as a closed-door for Ek or the club’s supporters.

It could be a financial tactical ploy by the club, say they don’t want to sell in public, but willing to sell behind closed doors.

Only one thing happens in that scenario and that’s the price of the club increasing, so watch this space in that regard.
