Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted to Sky Sports that he was stunned by Rodri’s block for Manchester City yesterday.

Klopp left in shock

In what was a pulsating clash, Liverpool looked certain to score when Fabinho got on the end of a set-piece, only for Rodri to desperately get lunge and get back to defend.

If Liverpool had scored the chance it surely would have won them the game, but it wasn’t to be.

“And Klopp admits that he simply couldn’t believe that Rodri was able to get back and stop Fabinho from scoring.

“I think the biggest chance we didn’t use. I have to see it back, I have no idea how they blocked the ball or who,” he said.

“Rodri blocked the ball, for me the ball was in! It’s all fine though and passion must be rewarded.”

Rodri is indeed have a fine season at City and his block yesterday was equally as important as a goal.

Fabinho had an open net in front of him, but Rodri reacted so quickly to get his body in the way and stop a tap in.

The point was ultimately probably a fair result for both sides in the end too.

Liverpool started slowly, but really showed their quality in the second-half as they put in a much improved performance.

The Reds are now in second place in the Premier League standings, with City just one place behind them.
