Peter Schmeichel has lauded the Liverpool supporters against AC Milan on Wednesday night and claimed that he has ‘never heard’ an atmosphere like it when Mohamed Salah scored, as he told Paramount+ on CBS Sports (15/09/21 at 10:15 pm).
The Manchester United legend shared that the noise inside Anfield for the heavyweight European clash was ‘just unbelievable’.
Liverpool recorded a 3-2 win against their old foes, with the home side taking the lead, falling 2-1 behind going into the break, before they turned things around in the second half.
It was Salah’s equalising goal that started Liverpool’s comeback – you have heard that one before – as Jurgen Klopp’s men then found the winner through Jordan Henderson’s exquisite edge-of-the-box finish, like he had strapped a cannon to his boot.
Schmeichel was at Anfield, and he was seemingly left stunned by the noise generated from those inside the stadium.
“I have to say, I have never heard, well actually I have just heard a noise like that,” said Schmeichel.
“But I haven’t heard an atmosphere like when Salah scored that second goal. It was just unbelievable.
“We were talking about the big nights at Anfield, well they delivered. The crowd here was magnificent. That, in itself, was an experience for me.”

For a Manchester United legend to come out with that statement says something, but then again, Liverpool supporters won’t be surprised.
Anfield, on European nights, is known for its atmosphere and it has generated some of the best games seen in the Champions League.
From that game and Steven Gerrard goal against Olympiacos to that quite epic comeback against Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.
It has and will always continue to deliver because it is etched into Liverpool’s rich history.
Whilst a certain oil-rich club may struggle to produce that, it’s a normal evening for those on Merseyside.
