David Hillier has claimed that Mikel Arteta is ‘still in the s**t’ at Arsenal and shared that he knows this because he has ‘inside information’, as he told the Highbury Squad.
The former Arsenal player stated that the club needs to ‘take it a game at a time’, as they hover above the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Arsenal have won one of their opening four Premier League matches, and despite that weekend win over Norwich, they have already taken some serious hits this season.
Heading into the international break, they were sitting bottom of the Premier League table and it’s the worst they have ever been under Arteta.
But it seems as though Arteta, who has purchased a number of young players this summer, is going to be backed by the powers that be.
Although, Hillier, who played for Arsenal for an eight-year period, has claimed that former Manchester City man is still in deep trouble, although he used some more colourful language when making those claims.
“I don’t think we are through anything,” said Hillier. “Definitely not through it because he is still in the s**t, let’s face it. He is in it.
“I know that. I have got inside information. And we just have to take it a game at a time.
“But we started the process and the players he brought in have started it. They have made a difference and the confidence can come from that.”

There were several occasions last season that Arteta could have, or perhaps, should have been given the chop.
From that disastrous period during the winter to losing the Europa League semi-final to the man he replaced – Unai Emery.
Given that there were no fans in stadiums, until the last day of the campaign, that certainly helped the Spaniard’s cause.
If there were supporters allowed in then perhaps he wouldn’t be here today because the atmosphere would have been pretty toxic.
And if the North London club go down a similar road again then, this time, Arteta will hear about it.
