AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement has lauded the recent signing of Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino, with the Belgian coach excited with how the Japanese international will fit into his system.
Speaking to the press via GFFN, the Ligue 1 boss waxed lyrical about how adaptable the winger is and how the one-time Premier League champion has the potential make Monaco’s attack as fluid as possible, with Minamino playing numerous positions during his time with Liverpool.
Whilst the former RB Salzburg star is naturally a left-sided winger, Minamino played all over the attack for Liverpool, a trait that made the Asian superstar a huge fan favourite at Anfield and what made supporters annoyed that the Reds allowed the forward to leave for a reported £15m.
With Monaco competing in the UEFA Champions League next season, the signing of Minamino is a wise one from Clement, who will be hoping to bring success back to the Ligue 1 side after another trophyless year for the Monegasques.
Minamino shone for Liverpool whenever he had the chance, and for Clement, the signing of the winger gives his Monaco side some much-needed flexibility for next season, with the Belgian coach excited about the possibilities this one signing brings for the European side.
Clement said: “I have a lot of ideas (of how to use him). That’s the advantage with him. He can be very effective in many different roles and in various positions. It’s interesting to have players like that in attack that can create things and can allow us to change systems without problems.”

Leaving Liverpool is always a hard decision for any player, but signing for Monaco could turn out to be a great decision for Minamino based on Clement’s comments, with the winger seemingly set to play a big role for the French club next season.
Indeed, the 27-year-old has proven to be a great player at the top level for the Reds, and for Monaco, Minamino could become the star player for an exciting squad that could do great things next season if they get the remainder of their summer signings spot on.
