Darwin Nunez cost the Reds a whopping £85 million as the Uruguayan became their most expensive player in history, dislodging Virgil van Dijk who’d held that record for over four years.
But could Nunez only hold that record at Liverpool for a year?
Well according to one journalist, possibly.
According to Dean Jones, the Anfield outfit are planning a major summer transfer window in 2023, with the Merseysiders intending to ‘go big’.
He told Give Me Sport: “I have heard that Liverpool intend to go big next summer if the right profile of player is there for them.”
This tallies with speculation about an attempt to sign Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool are reported to be winning the race to sign the England international who is likely to cost well over the £100 million mark.
If Jurgen Klopp does sign him, it’ll obliterate Nunez’s record at Anfield.
Problem is, he could have far more attractive propositions come next summer, particularly how awful Liverpool – who could be 17 points behind top-of-the-table Arsenal this afternoon – have been this season.
