Fabrizio Romano has said on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin Youtube channel that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will not move to AS Roma right now.

Gazzetta Italia has claimed that Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Lloris from his former club Tottenham.

Tuttosport has also credited the Serie A outfit with interest in the 34-year-old France international goalkeeper this summer.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has claimed that at the moment, there are no talks between Roma and Spurs over Lloris.

The Italian journalist has said that Spurs will make a decision on the future of the Frenchman only after they appoint a new manager.

Romano said on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin Youtube channel: “I have been told at the moment no. At the moment, there is nothing going on about Lloris.

“They need to wait, they want to wait until the new manager (is appointed) because the style of the new manager will be important.”

The journalist added: “They will decide after the new manager is appointed.”

Sensible stance

Lloris is 34 now, and it is clear that Tottenham need to find a successor soon.

Yes, the Frenchman is a very good goalkeeper, but he is in his mid-30s now.

Spurs need to look to the future and should at least look into bringing in a younger player to complete with Lloris.

However, it is also important to allow the new Tottenham manager – whoever he might be – to make the decision on the future of Lloris.

If Tottenham do sell Lloris this summer, then they have to make sure that they bring in a suitable goalkeeper who is just as good, if not better.
