Ben Foster has made it clear that he has a ‘little problem’ with the build-up to Arsenal’s goal on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports.

The Watford goalkeeper stated that his teammates should have been ‘throwing our arms in the air’ when Arsenal didn’t give them the ball back before scoring yesterday.

Danny Rose had the ball near the corner flag when he noticed his teammate on the floor, so he purposely put the ball out for a throw-in.

When play resumed moments later, rather than the home side giving the opposition the ball back, they played on and ended up scoring through Smith Rowe.

Foster was in between the sticks and he wasn’t happy with what he saw and he thinks they themselves should have done more about it.

“I have a little problem with it,” said Foster. “I think, in my book, that deserves to be booted back up to the pitch towards their goalkeeper.

“That’s the way I would have seen it going. The way it happened, we need to kind of look at ourselves a little there because we need to be clever.

“If Danny Rose is kicking the ball out there, then we need to make a song and dance about it before the game gets carried on.

“We need to be throwing our arms in the air by saying ‘get it back to the goalkeeper’. All that kind of stuff.”

Even after the final whistle, Claudio Ranieri didn’t seem too pleased with Arsenal’s actions and he made his feelings clear towards Mikel Arteta.

Perhaps Arsenal should have given the ball back, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t properly defend that attacking situation, which Watford didn’t.

But that probably shouldn’t be the talking point because, just before Smith Rowe scored his goal, Ismaila Sarr was fouled and he should have been awarded a free kick.

So, if anything, that’s a bigger talking point and controversy than Arsenal not giving the ball back.
