Thomas Tuchel thinks Aston Villa are being ‘very busy’ during the January transfer window, as he told his Chelsea press conference.
The Champions League-winning manager also pointed out that he thinks Villa are ‘finding good opportunities to strengthen their squad’.
After securing the signature of Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona, it seems as though Villa are now going to add Everton left-back, Lucas Digne, to their ranks.
Sky Sports report that Villa are set to beat the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham to the Frenchman’s signature.
All of this is a sign of intent from the Midlands outfit and Steven Gerrard’s ever-progressing side.
Nonetheless, when Tuchel was asked what he thinks Premier League clubs will do during the January transfer window, he issued this response.
“I don’t know if I have a good answer to this one,” said Tuchel. “I have a feeling, Aston Villa, for example, is very busy and finding good opportunities to strengthen their squad.
“Other teams are maybe pretty happy with what they have. We are actually very happy with what we have. I am very happy with what we have.
“We struggle a bit with long-term injuries, so we are looking into the market.
“January is always a bit particular, let’s see, there is not a lot going on at the moment (amongst Premier League clubs). I think, in the end, there will be more transfers done.”
The mood is pretty positive in the Villa camp, despite that recent FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
All of it stems down to the fans seeing the bigger picture, the clear project the club is trying to build and the new signings lifting the mood around the place.
Digne moving to the club will only increase that, but now it’s time for the results to also change.
Villa have lost back-to-back matches and they face off against Manchester United again on Saturday, this time hoping to get revenge for that Monday night defeat.
