‘I had to humble him’: Jadon Sancho makes claim about Arsenal player

Jadon Sancho hilariously told the Lions’ Den that he had to ‘humble’ Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka in England training. 

Manchester United’s new signing will come up against the Arsenal talent next season, but in the meantime, they are trying to help the Three Lions win Euro 2020 – and enjoying themselves along the way.

The togetherness in this England squad has been pretty clear, as they prepare for a crucial yet highly-pressured semi-final showdown with Denmark on Wednesday.

But after Saka claimed that he scores more goals than Sancho in training, Man United’s new boy claimed that he had to put him straight by asking him how many goals he scored during the 2020/21 season.

“I had to humble him,” said Sancho. “He had to (run off real quick after Sancho asked Saka how many goals he has scored this season). He knew.

“Things like that, people don’t take it personally. But that’s the banter we kind of have. So, it’s fun.”

This togetherness in the England squad is playing a huge part in why Gareth Southgate’s side are two wins away from winning their first major tournament since 1966.

Both Saka and Sancho have started the last two knockout games – against Germany and Ukraine – and are now in competition to be named in the starting XI for Wednesday’s semi-final showdown.

Whilst both will be hoping to get the nod, they may even find themselves on the bench because Southgate can also opt for either Jack Grealish or Phil Foden.

Either way, it seems as though England’s forward line of Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling is cemented, it’s just a case of who joins them from the off out on that Wembley pitch.
