Conor Coady has told the Express & Star he was never affected by Sheffield United’s interest, after signing a new four-year deal at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.
United’s manager Chris Wilder last month took the unusual step of confirming his side’s offer for Coady, who was in the final year of his contract at Wolves.
But after subsequent discussions with the Championship’s second-placed side, Coady said he had “no hesitation” about extending his stay with them.
“Sheffield United’s a fantastic club, I’ve been there before (on loan), it’s something their manager came out and said and that was fine,” the Liverpudlian told the Express & Star.

“But it never affected me. I love working under Nuno (Espirito Santo, the Wolves boss), all his ideas I think are fantastic, he’s galvanised the boys.
“I spoke to him about the situation and he was brilliant about it and helped keep my head down. It wasn’t hard at all. This club means the world to me.”

Sheffield United, who sit two points behind Wolves in sixth position – despite being a League One side last term, have since strengthened their back line with the captures of Ben Heneghan and Cameron Carter-Vickers, from Motherwell and Tottenham Hotspur (loan) respectively.
Coady spent a season at Bramall Lane under Nigel Clough’s reign, but signed permanently with Huddersfield Town the following campaign.
And Wolves, for whom the 24-year-old has made 93 appearances, paid around £2 million to prise him away from Yorkshire in 2015.
