Jens Lehmann has claimed that Arsenal striker, Eddie Nketiah, is a ‘fantastic goalscorer’, as he told Stadium Astro (23/04/22 at 12:25 pm).
The former goalkeeper added that he coached Nketiah for ‘one year’ at Arsenal and he needs to ‘improve his passing’.
The Hale-End star has come to life in recent games, after struggling to earn regular starts under Mikel Arteta.
He scored a brace against Chelsea in midweek and added that performance with a strong display during the win against Manchester United on Saturday.
Lehmann shared his thoughts on Nketiah and what the 22-year-old needs to do to add more quality to his game.
“He’s a fantastic goalscorer,” said Lehmann. “I had him when I was a coach here for one year.
“He only needed to improve on his passing because that’s what gives the team stability and confidence.
“In an Arsenal team, if you have somebody that’s not good at his passing, then it’s very difficult to play.
“But he has worked on it and I hope he turns out to be very well. I cross my fingers for him to improve on that level now.”

As things stand, Nketiah is heading for the Arsenal exit door in the summer because he is out-of-contract.
The penalty-box poacher isn’t the only one because his current stand-in captain, Alexandre Lacazette, is also in the same boat.
It means that Arsenal need that striker this summer, regardless of what the above two decide to do in a few weeks.
Either way, if Nketiah is trying to prove he can earn that big-money contract at the Emirates, then firing the club to the Champions League would certainly help his cause.
