Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has praised Adam Forshaw for his performance against Leicester City today, as quoted in Leeds Live.

What’s the story?

Leeds were in action against Leicester at home in the Premier League this afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side played out a 1-1 draw with the Foxes at Elland Road.

Forshaw started for the Whites in midfield.

It was the 30-year-old midfielder’s first start in the Premier League this season.

Forshaw has had injury problems for months, but he played against Leicester like he had been in action regularly.

The former Middlesbrough start controlled the tempo in the middle of the park, was very calm and composed on the ball, and showed remarkable positional sense.

Leeds head coach Bielsa has praised Forshaw, and he has admitted that the midfielder has proved him wrong.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Forshaw: “It’s a prize for his perseverance. He spent two years without playing. He never gave up. Also, to give value to all those who collaborated with his recovery.

“Very difficult to come back to this level after two years out. More than any consideration, Forshaw got this by himself. To have overcome all of this he had to overcome, is to make him feel him feel very comfort in himself [?].

“A message because I had doubts he could achieve what he just achieved. A message for those who doubted and a message for those who can imitate a similar behaviour.

“I suppose all his family and people who love him will feel admiration for this achievement. It seems like my position is exaggerated, but if everyone knew what he had to overcome throughout these years they would understand what I’m recognising is deserved.”

Encouraging for Leeds United

We know how good Forshaw is.

And he showed his quality against Leicester today.

This is a Leicester team who are expected to challenge for the Premier League top four.

So, it is even more impressive to see how the midfielder performed.

Leeds have had injury problems this season, and the availability of Forshaw is a boost to Bielsa.
