Former Premier League star Michu has said Erling Haaland is eager to join a UEFA Champions League club in the summer who can be competitive in the competition, with Liverpool reportedly interested.
Speaking to Cadena SER, the ex-Swansea City attacker, who surprisingly is an idol of the Borussia Dortmund phenom, claimed that Haaland will want to join one of the biggest clubs in the world this summer.
The 21-year-old attacker is expected to leave the Bundesliga with Haaland demolishing the German top-flight since joining in early 2020, with the Norwegian international now ready for the next step in his exciting career, and Liverpool could be a destination.
According to the Daily Star, Jurgen Klopp’s side is one of four Premier League clubs eyeing Haaland, with both Manchester teams and Chelsea also in the mix to sign Haaland in the summer.
Whilst a deal could cost as much as £250m in total as per Sky Sports News, this likely won’t stop clubs from trying to sign Haaland, and according to Michu, the striker is eager to move somewhere with a competitive team and success in the Champions League.
The Spaniard said: “I was with Haaland, I spoke with him and I don’t think he’s going to stay at Dortmund. Haaland is looking for a very strong team that can compete in the Champions League. He is looking for a competitive team.”
Michu comments offer hope Liverpool can pull off Haaland deal

Whilst a move to Spain remains the most likely destination for Haaland, these bombshell comments from Michu offer Liverpool hope that they can pull off an insane signing in the Dortmund star.
Indeed, Klopp could be the perfect manager for the Scandinavian superstar, and the Premier League is also ideal for Haaland’s style of play, with the youngster having the technical and physical quality to make a mockery out of defenders in the division.
