Liverpool have been hit hard by injuries to defenders, and fans of the defending Premier League champions are not happy with the latest news on the 23-year-old, as shown below.
Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are long-term injury concerns, while Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have also had problems.
Fabinho has been playing in defence – as he did against Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League on Thursday evening – despite being a defensive midfielder by trade.
Ahead of the game on Thursday evening, Liverpool manager Klopp said that Phillips was not in the squad due to injury.
