Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter in disbelief after seeing what Connor Wickham did against Sunderland’s Under-23 side yesterday.

The £7 million man was playing in the Under-23 match to build up his fitness as he attempts to battle back from injury once again.

However, he also managed to pull off a sumptuous pass during the game, which sent Palace fans into a frenzy on Twitter.

Wickham proved he hasn’t lost his quality during his time on the sidelines.

After taking a goal-kick down on his chest, the 27-year-old took one more touch before hitting a beautiful, curved pass right into the path of a teammate out on the right flank.

Wickham cut across the ball slightly, which helped it bend around both of Sunderland’s centre-backs before it stopped dead at the feet of the Eagles striker’s target.

It was a reminder that the former Sunderland frontman has plenty of quality in his locker – he just needs to do his best to stay fit.

When he can get himself out onto the pitch, Palace’s No.21 can be a handful to deal with due to his physicality and the positions he takes up.

Wickham only managed to play 92 Premier League minutes last term.

However, he still managed to get one goal and one assist, while he also forced Fernandinho into scoring Palace’s late equaliser away to Manchester City.

When he’s fit, he’s a fantastic option for Roy Hodgson.

Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about his delicious pass…
