Charles Watts has shared that Marquinhos is expected to head out on loan for Arsenal again this summer.

The 20-year-old, who signed for Arsenal last summer, spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on-loan at Championship side, Norwich City.

Marquinhos had a few bright moments at Carrow Road, but in the end, he was unable to guide them to a top-six finish, with Arsenal transfer expert Watts stating that a loan, both in England and abroad, are now on the cards for the winger, as he told his own YouTube channel.

Whilst the Brazil U20 international can operate on the right flank and Mikel Arteta needs cover for that area, the youngster isn’t probably the answer right now.

Proven quality is needed as the Gunners return to the Champions League, and this time, aim to take the next step towards the Premier League title.

Nonetheless, Watts shared that the ‘powerful’ Marquinhos is a ‘really popular member of the squad’, but he expects a season-long loan to follow.

“Interesting to see what happens with Marquinhos next season at Arsenal,” said Watts. “I don’t think he is going to be around the first-team squad next season.

“I think he needs to go out on loan again, maybe for the full season this time – he’s got the attributes, a strong lad, he’s fast and has an eye for goal.

“I am fully expecting him to go out on loan. I don’t think it has to be an English loan. He could benefit from a spell abroad somewhere as well. Maybe go to Spain. Follow Balogun and head over to France. He’s such a really popular member of the squad.”

Marquinhos will grow under Arteta

The Sao Paulo star just needs to look over to Gabriel Martinelli and the strides he has made over the years under Mikel Arteta.

There were times when Arteta wasn’t playing Martinelli, even though fans were crying out for it.

But that patience from the Arsenal boss and development has now seen him become one of the most feared wide men in the league.

That’s enough evidence for Marquinhos that he can follow down that road one day.
