Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has told Leeds Live that he is very happy that Kemar Roofe has won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers this season.

Bielsa has said that although Roofe left Leeds in the summer of 2019, he still follows the 28-year-old striker, who cost Rangers €5 million (£4.28 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020, according to Dhnet.be.

Roofe was on the books of Leeds in England from 2016 until 2019, and just before his departure from Elland Road, Bielsa admitted that he did not want to let him go, as quoted in The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Rangers have won the league title in Scotland this season, ending bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic’s hopes of winning the championship for the 10th year in a row.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Roofe: “I follow how each player that has passed through here is doing. I’m very happy that Roofe is able to win the Premier League in Scotland. I regret that he was not able to participate in the last few games due to a muscular problem.”
