Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy has been left puzzled by Demarai Gray’s decision to take to social media to vent his frustration with Everton manager Sean Dyche.

Last week, Gray posted on Instagram that it was difficult for him to play for someone who does not show him respect.

And now Murphy, speaking on talkSPORT, has said that the Everton winger should have gone about things differently.

What exactly has Danny Murphy said about Demarai Gray?

Discussing the 27-year-old’s social media post, the former Liverpool player said: “Is it that difficult to go and knock on a door and have a man-to-man conversation where you can iron these things out or not and leave the room and agree to disagree whatever it is?

“I find it bizarre that players put stuff out about their managers on social media or even the club because you’re never winning. I don’t know how you win.”

Gray is unlikely to be on his Everton’s books for much longer as he closes in on a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to The Guardian, he is on the verge of joining Al-Ettifaq in a transfer that will see him link up with Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

The Jamaica international has not played a game for the Toffees this season but did feature for them 36 times last term, scoring six goals across those appearances.

Best for Demarai Gray to move on

Gray still has plenty to offer to this Everton team. He is an experienced Premier League winger who can play on both flanks and come up with the odd goal.

However, his relationship with Dyche seems to have broken down, so it is probably best for all parties now if he departs.

It is a shame, as Gray has been one of Everton’s better pieces of business in recent years. He cost the Merseyside club less than £2m, which is an absolute bargain in this day and age.

But his future now looks to be away from Goodison Park after everything that has happened with Dyche.
