Erik Lamela has returned to action for Tottenham Hotspur, after spending more than a year out injured.

Spurs ace Erik Lamela opened up on the tough time he endured during the 13 months he spent on the sidelines through injury, when writing notes for the club’s matchday programme, sharing how he felt sorry for Tottenham fans because he could not play and help his team, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The Argentine returned to action away at Leicester City last week, appearing as a 77th minute substitute. He then played another 13 minutes against Watford, before a 23 minute cameo against Stoke City on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino is nurturing the 25-year-old back to full fitness, and understandably so, having been without his services for over a year.

And Lamela explained how the 13 months he spent on the sidelines has been extremely challenging for him mentally, when writing notes for Spurs’ matchday programme, as quoted by Football.London:

“It’s been a very long time fighting to get back. Unfortunately I didn’t get well soon, but now I’m much better and very happy to be back. There were some very hard times but in life you need to keep going, always looking forward. There has been a lot of support from my team-mates, also the fans and everyone who works for the club. Every day, every week they asked how I felt and I felt sad for them because I wanted to play.”
Next up for Tottenham is a home game against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Wednesday night, and Lamela will be hoping for more minutes, as he continues he prolonged recovery from injury.
