Everton loanee Theo Walcott told talkSPORT (15/11/20 at 5:15 pm) that he is feeling ‘young again’ at Southampton.

The 31-year-old is on a season-long loan at St Mary’s from Everton and he stated that returning to where it all started has made him ‘feel like a kid’ again.

Whilst Everton have had a little blip recently, just like the South Coast club, they too have had a strong start to the campaign.

Walcott has played his part in that and he shared his thoughts on returning to Southampton this summer.

“I just feel at Southampton when I was a young kid coming through and it was a family club,” said Walcott. “It was something that sort of fits well with where I am at in my career and my life as well.

“And I want to do well, it’s as simple as that. I want the club to do well and personally, I want to do well. I don’t want to or need to prove anything to anyone.

“I just want to go out there and express myself and I think the last few games you are slowly starting to see that. It has been a bit like pre-season for me, still. I feel young again and I feel like a kid and that’s where I want to be.”

Walcott began his career at Southampton as a highly-rated teenager, but before they could return to the Premier League, he was snapped up by the talent spotter Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

The English speedster won numerous FA Cups at Arsenal but he seemingly didn’t fulfil the potential that many thought he might reach – but others also feel he doesn’t get the respect he deserves for what he has achieved.

After leaving the Gunners, he moved to Everton, but he struggled to really cement himself on Merseyside, and up until recently, he was sitting top of the Premier League with his boyhood club.
