Graeme Souness has told Sky Sports (13/12/20 at 4:25 pm) that he feels ‘sorry’ for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and agreed that he has become a forgotten man at the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a number of injuries during his time at Liverpool, but he returned to their Premier League squad during their draw at Fulham on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp didn’t bring on his talents during the game, but with the high volume of games coming up, he will surely get his chance during these coming weeks.
Souness shared that he is a ‘fan’ of the ball-carrying midfielder, who moved to Anfield from the Emirates for £35 million in 2017 [BBC Sport].
On Oxlade-Chamberlain being forgotten man: “Yes, I feel for him,” said Souness. “I am a fan of his.
“I felt they needed something different in midfield. Somebody who could drop a shoulder. Dribble past people as to a Wijnaldum and a Jordan Henderson, who are fabulous in their own right. And he gives them something different.
“It’s just been a series of injuries for him. I feel sorry for him because he is a real talent.”

With Curtis Jones now thriving in the middle of the park for Liverpool, he is providing that something different in midfield.
The Liverpool academy product is perhaps ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain in the pecking order now, as the former Arsenal man needs to climb the ladder once more.
When fully fit, as proven in games such as Manchester City, Oxlade-Chamberlain can be that goalscoring midfielder and that player that can drive forward with the ball. All of which compliments this workman-like Liverpool midfield perfectly.
