There was a few shock decisions by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp this afternoon.
The Reds bring an 18-game undefeated streak in the Premier League with them to Manchester United.
But Klopp left out some very big players.
Liverpool will be without Fabinho, who is injured, but Klopp dropped Sadio Mane and Joel Matip from the first XI.
In their place, Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota come in for the pair, while James Milner starts ahead of the injured Brazilian.
Matip has been as good as anybody in Liverpool’s back four this season, while Mane has netted six goals in 11 games across all competitions.
Here’s what some fans of the Anfield club are saying:
The Red Devils have quite a lot of pace in their first XI and therefore it’s possible that Klopp wants Konate over Matip for that reason.
The former Leipzig centre-back is undeniably quicker across the turf than the Cameroon international.
But by the same token, Matip has been an exceptional Premier League defender over the past five years, illustrating that speed doesn’t often hold him back.
And as for Mane, well that’s probably a bigger shock.
Jota is definitely a good player, but the former Southampton livewire is much more dangerous and Manchester United fans – and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – will be delighted to see him on the bench, which should tell you something.
