If you’re a Liverpool centre-back then you might as well register for a different position on the pitch because there is some serious bad luck in that role.
On Monday night, Liverpool confirmed on their Twitter account that Nat Phillips was absent for their trip to Elland Road after he picked up a ‘minor hamstring injury’.
That’s Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and now Phillips in the treatment room for Liverpool.
Not forgetting that Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, who have played at centre-back this season, have also suffered the same fate – the latter is still out.
Liverpool could have done with Phillips last night, especially the goal they conceded because if their academy star was on the pitch, then like always, he would have headed everything away.
But it wasn’t meant to be as Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League-chasing side were lucky to leave Yorkshire with a point.
The Reds will still back themselves to finish in the top four, but they will need their vastly-improving defender back as quick as possible.
