Arsenal fans are upset as Marc Overmars appears to be heading in the direction of Newcastle United.
Overmars to Newcastle?
The Times report that Newcastle are now eyeing up Overmars to be their director of football under their new ownership.
The links come just months after Overmars was actually linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Dutchman, of course, shot to fame during his playing days with Arsenal and remains a legend at the North London club.
And plenty of Arsenal fans feel that he would be an improvement on Edu, who currently occupies the position for them.
Arsenal frustration
Edu’s track record in the transfer market has indeed been questionable since he arrived at Arsenal.
While there has been some successes, Arsenal have also spent big fees on numerous players who are yet to really prove themselves since Edu arrived.
Overmars, meanwhile, is currently technical director Ajax and he has been praised for helping the Dutch side’s success.
Ajax have been impressive both domestically and in Europe under his stewardship, and Newcastle could be making a very smart move by bringing him to the club.
