Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has revealed to BT Sport that he went into the Dinamo Zagreb dressing room and praised their side, after they shocked Spurs in the Europa League last night.
Tottenham went into the game with a 2-0 advantage, but somehow threw it away in extra-time.
Spurs never got going in the game, with Mislav Orsic hitting a hat-trick.
And Mourinho admits that he went into Dinamo’s dressing room to give their players credit, as he felt they deserved their victory.
“For the respect I have for my career and my job, every match is important,” he said.
“For every Tottenham fan at home every match matters. Another attitude is needed.
“To say I feel sad is not enough. What I feel is much more than sadness. I just left Dinamo dressing room where I went to praise the guys and I feel sorry one team is not my team won the game based on attitude and compromise. I feel more than sad. That is it.”
Tottenham’s defeat throws Mourinho’s future into serious doubt.
Spurs looked miles off the pace last night, and they have delivered far too many performances like this over the course of the campaign.
If Tottenham’s squad are still playing for Mourinho then they certainly didn’t show that last night.
Not one Spurs player performed to their expected level, and their whole season may now effectively come down to a League Cup final, otherwise it could be considered a disaster.
