Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon has posted on Instagram ‘I feel like a football player again after seven months’ after he made his Atletico Madrid debut on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old’s game time at Spurs had reduced under Antonio Conte last season, and then in the summer, he headed for the exit door and joined Spanish giants Atletico on a loan deal.
On Wednesday night, after injury, he finally made his debut for Diego Simeone’s men when he came off the bench during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Mallorca in La Liga.

Things aren’t going well for Atletico Madrid this season, so Reguilon has his work cut out in that regard.
They were knocked out of the Champions League last week, and heading towards the break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, they are sitting outside of the Champions League places.
Reguilon did highlight the team’s current situation, as he expressed his delight at finally getting back on the pitch, with Bryan Gil posting in the comments section ‘Let’s go, brother’.
“I feel like a football player again after seven months,” said Reguilon. “Annoyed by the defeat and the team situation. But excited for my Atletico Madrid debut and looking forward to helping the team out.”
REGUILON’S FUTURE
Unless Antonio Conte heads for the exit door before the season ends, this is probably the end of the road for Reguilon in north London.
Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic are the two players used as left-sided wing-backs now, with Ben Davies another option if Conte wants to pick somebody else outside of the two.
But for Reguilon himself, this is a huge season because it wasn’t so long ago when he was playing for Real Madrid and on a regular for Spurs, now that’s not the case.
